Homemade Treats

4 cards · about a minute

  1. Three ingredients

A good treat is one protein, one binder and nothing else, chicken and oat flour, or pumpkin and egg, baked until it is dry all the way through.

  2. Bake them dry

Moisture is what spoils a homemade treat, so a lower oven for longer, until they snap rather than bend, buys you a fortnight instead of three days.

  3. The list with no safe dose

Xylitol, chocolate, raisins, grapes, onion and garlic are all off the table entirely, and xylitol hides in peanut butter more often than anywhere else.

  4. Treats are food too

Everything handed over during the day counts against the bowl, keep the total under a tenth of what your dog eats, and take it off dinner.
