Bring the paperwork
Whatever came with your dog, vaccination card, deworming dates, shelter notes, breeder records, take all of it, including the parts that look irrelevant.
Write the questions down
You will forget two of them in the room, and a list on your phone is the difference between a consultation and a chat.
Travel safely
A crate or a harness clipped to the seat belt, a light meal three hours earlier, windows down a crack, a dog who is sick in the car learns to dread the destination.
Make the clinic boring
Ask to drop in once with no appointment, just to be weighed and given a treat: a dog whose first ten visits are all needles will fight the eleventh.
