Living in a Flat

4 cards · about a minute

  1. Barking is shared property

In a flat a bark belongs to the neighbours too, and a dog left alone who barks for an hour is the commonest reason a society turns against dogs.

  2. The lift is a small room

Wait for an empty one or ask before you step in, because the person who is frightened of dogs has nowhere to go inside a two-metre box.

  3. Always carry the bag

Carry two, pick up every time, and do it when nobody is watching, the reputation of every dog in the building is built out of this one habit.

  4. Read the actual rules

Find what your society or landlord has written down rather than what people say at the gate; most disputes are about a rule nobody has read.
