Mating instinct, fear and the four layers behind a dog's behaviour
Building on the previous class about dog emotions, Sunny used the specific case of a male dog fixated on a female in heat to teach that instincts sit at the deepest, animal level of a dog and can only be overpowered by fear. Members shared real examples of uncontrollable instincts in their own dogs, from prey drive to mating drive, and Sunny connected these to the reptile brain that humans and dogs share. He also described using sound, body language and visualised emotional energy to create a fear radius or calm radius around dogs, drawing on his experience running large off leash socialising sessions.
