Basil

This herb is an excellent source of Beta – carotene, Iron, Calcium and Vitamin A, B6, C, E, K. It is known for its Antioxidant, Antifungal, Antiviral and Antimicrobial properties. It also contain large amount of Beta – caryophyllene which is known to be helpful in Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

This herb is also know to help in alleviating Arthritis in Dogs. Its essential oil can also be used as insect repellant.

It helps in decreasing the stress hormone (corticosterone), which in turn helps to reduce the dog’s anxiety, and make him calm. It may even help in fighting Cancer.

A table spoon of basilleaves contain:
* 47mg of calcium
* 1.89mg of Iron
* 55mg of potassium
* 15mg of manganese

For a dog weighing about 30kgs, consider adding a teaspoon of dried basil to their food every once in a while.
