Welcome to the “Conduct Socializing Session” chapter of the dog socializing ritual course! In this chapter, you will learn how to conduct a successful socializing session from the perspective of the dog.
First, you will learn about the importance of why you should be in control of the session.
Next, you will learn about the importance of ensuring that all humans involved in the session are on the same page. This means having a clear plan for the session, and communicating that plan to everyone involved.
During the session, you will mostly observe and not interfere, unless necessary. This means allowing the dogs to interact and communicate with each other, while keeping a watchful eye for any signs of discomfort or aggression. If necessary, you should intervene in a calm and assertive manner, to prevent any negative interactions between the dogs.
You will also learn about choosing an appropriate space for the socializing session. This means finding a neutral, controlled environment that is free from distractions and potential dangers. You will also learn about the importance of introducing the dogs in a neutral space, to help reduce the likelihood of territorial behavior.
Finally, you will learn about what to do after the socializing session.
By the end of this chapter, you will have the skills and knowledge to conduct a successful socializing session from the perspective of the dog.
